Dante Domain Manager (DDM) 1.9.1 delivers meaningful advances across security, platform reliability, and ecosystem extensibility.

Stronger Security Posture

Two complementary investments harden the platform for enterprise and regulated environments. Vulnerabilities identified through independent penetration testing have been resolved, reducing exposure to known security risks and improving readiness for enterprise security review. Alongside this, the embedded database is upgraded from the end-of-life MongoDB 4.4 to MongoDB 7.0 — a supported major release with an extended support lifecycle — eliminating exposure to legacy CVEs, aligning with modern compliance requirements, and better supporting customers with stricter security and lifecycle requirements, including government, education, and large venue environments.

Improved Performance & Reliability

The MongoDB 7.0 upgrade brings meaningful performance improvements — including faster audit log queries and better responsiveness in large Dante domains — without requiring additional hardware investment.

DDM as a Unified Control Plane for AV Devices

Manage AV Ultra device modes and video wall configurations directly through DDM and via API integration with third party control systems — without needing direct connections to individual devices. This reduces integration complexity, improves security, and establishes DDM as an extensible control hub for device-level capabilities beyond routing and domain management.

Note: As of DDM 1.9, pre-v4.x firmware [legacy] devices are no longer supported.

DDM 1.9.x is provided on a Rocky 9 platform.

Existing DDM customers can update from the DDM UI (Settings) for the smoothest experience.

For the majority of new customers, we recommend installing the self-contained ISO on Hyper-V, ESXi, Proxmox, or bare metal.

The hypervisor or bare metal hardware must support AVX instructions.

Important: DDM installations at version 1.5 or earlier cannot be updated to v1.8 via the online update feature in the DDM user interface. For installation instructions, please see Upgrading DDM from v1.5.x or Earlier – Installation Guide.

Installation file – Installer script

The DDM ISO Installer script can be run on your pre-existing Rocky 9 Linux system to install the application. The DDM Installer script is suitable for installation on selected cloud hosts.

New features since v1.8.3

  • AV Ultra device modes and video wall configurations can now be managed directly through DDM
  • For High Availability configurations, the Arbiter node has been renamed to the Secondary node, and now fully replicates the Standalone node, in addition to acting as an arbiter.
    • Upgrading an Arbiter node will convert it to a Secondary node, and it must then be activated via license key.
    • High Availability (HA Only) nodes can no longer be promoted via the UI to full Standalone nodes.
  • Clocking edit permission has been added to the Media Control role, including for read/write Embedded Dante API devices.
  • As of DDM 1.9, pre-v4.x firmware (legacy) devices are no longer supported.
  • DDM-1136 / ETS-6524 / ETS-6652: LDAP service intermittency
    • The fix restores the self-healing behaviour of connections to LDAP servers caused by a regression introduced in DDM 1.8.2. Further improvements to LDAP connection robustness have also been incorporated.
  • DDM-1122 / ETS-6682: Interruption to audio flows from shared channels with the tx device disconnects from DDM
    • Fix to a regression introduced in DDM 1.8.0 when a audio flows may be interrupted when using shared audio between domains when the source Tx device disconnects from DDM.
  • DDM-1101 / CLOUD-4678: Possible resolution failure when making a large number of subscriptions on MC capable devices
    • Fix for subscriptions not resolving when making a large number of subscriptions at once for a MC capable device.
  • DDM-1097 / ETS-6477: GraphQL queries and mutations not working for peer group devices
    • Support for peer group devices was added to the Dante Managed API.
  • DDM-1094 / ETS-6338: Incorrect “Deactivated” error message when the web UI loses contact with the DDM backend
    • Correction to reported error when the web UI loses connection with the DDM backend to “Lost connection” rather than the previous incorrect message of “Deactivated”.
  • DDM-1080: Improvements to reliability of the DDM installer script
  • DDM-1123: Fix for security updates via the appliance menu not working
    • Check for Updates was not applying all relevant updates.
  • ETS-6700: Security updates
  • ETS-6806: Fix for upgrades from DDM 1.8 to DDM 1.9
  • DDM-1134: AVX instructions are required for the MongoDB upgrade. This change will check if the system supports AVX before starting an install or update.
  • PFR-296: Signal presence made available for RX and TX channels via the Managed Dante (GraphQl) API for devices that provide this information.
  • DDM-1155: After upgrading from DDM 1.8 GA to DDM 1.9 GA, Dante Controller is unable to log in to DDM and displays an “Unable to connect” error.
    Workaround: Deactivate and reactivate the license or refresh the license.
  • ETS-6762: Security fixes

New known issues

  • ETS-6807: In Dante Controller 4.18.0 with DDM 1.9, the restored <Assign Later> enrollment option is incorrectly replaced by <No domains available – cannot enroll>, preventing device discovery in unmanaged.
    Workaround: Manually configure the devices, or enroll by IP, or use Dante Controller 4.17.

Pre-existing known issues

  • DDM-1114: HA failover can fail if the primary node loses contact with both redundant nodes for less than 60 seconds. Restart the primary node if this occurs.
  • DDM-811: After installation or disbanding a HA cluster the network interface may be disabled. Workaround: Configure the network interface on the appliance menu to be static or dynamic, then reboot the appliance.
  • DDM-430: Selecting a different number of records to show in the audit log fails. The second attempt at selecting a different number of records to show will succeed.
  • DDM-432: The branding feature is available only when the Main node is active. It is not available for the backup (auxiliary) node. The branding feature will be restored once the Main node is again active.
  • DDM-428 / DDM-429: Long API key descriptions may overlap with other page elements. Workaround: Restrict the API key description to approx. 35 characters, inc. spaces.
  • MIL-4635: High latency settings for a device, that are only available with Dante Domain Manager, remain when the device is unenrolled. Workaround: Manually change the latency to one that is better suited for local unmanaged network operation.

Audinate’s Support for Inclusive Language

To our customers: some of the terminology used in Dante products has been changed to align with modern usage. Specifically, areas related to Dante clocking now refer to “Primary Leader Clock”, “Leader Clocks” and “Follower Clocks” to describe the functions of each role more clearly.
