Is there a version of the API that works without DDM?

No, at this stage we are only planning to offer the API for ‘Managed Dante’ i.e. Dante installations running on DDM or Dante Director.

The reasons include:

• The manager (DDM, Dante Director etc) provides a single point of integration for all devices in a Dante installation and helps to maintain integrity; without this it would be necessary to control every device directly.

• The manager provides user authorization across the Dante installation; without this the API would be inherently insecure and/or rely on maintaining credentials on every device.

• Cloud hosted managers, or managers connected to the Internet, can allow API access from systems or devices not on the LAN. These might include mobile apps, web applications and third party cloud based solutions..
