Dante Training at NAMM 2025

Start Date: Wednesday, 22 January 2025 9:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)

End Date: Friday, 24 January 2025 5:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)

777 West Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802, USA

Audinate is pleased to offer three days of hands-on Dante training at NAMM 2025! The training is located at the Hilton Anaheim on Level 4, Laguna Room, just a two-minute walk from the convention center. We will be holding classes on NAMM’s Educational Day on January 22nd, as well as during the show on January 23rd and 24th. This year’s NAMM curriculum features an introductory Dante Boot Camp, Dante Certification Levels 1 and 2, an Introduction to Managed Switch class, as well as two new classes entitled “Dante Platform Overview” and “Designing with AVoIP.”

Please note that each class is first come, first served and does not require an RSVP, but does require a NAMM badge for entry. While we will likely have plenty of room for everyone who wishes to attend, please arrive 15 minutes before the start of a training session to ensure you have a seat.

Day 1 (January 22nd)

Dante Certification Level 1, Second Edition + Boot Camp

9AM – 12PM
Course Level: Beginner

Requirements: Hands-on portion requires a PC or Apple Computer with a USB C port or bring your own dongle with network capabilities (No Chromes books or Tablets).

After completing Dante Certification Level 1 (2nd Edition), students can comfortably design, set up and operate a Dante audio/video system on a single network switch. Demonstrations offer attendees a practical feel for Dante’s breadth, reach and simplicity.

During Dante Certification Level 1 (2nd Edition), you will learn the basics of using Dante, and have the opportunity for hands-on experiments. You’ll learn some simple, practical guidelines for connecting and working with Dante.

For the hands-on portion, if you have never worked with AVoIP before, this will give you a solid understanding of using Dante and setting up a network. The Dante Certification Program takes the practical skills you learn with the hands- portion and begins to show you why these things work.

Upon completion, attendees will:

  • be able to design, set up and operate a Dante audio/video system on a single network switch.
  • gain an improved understanding of fundamentals in digital audio, digital video, and networking.
  • be able to explain the benefits of a complete networked solution as opposed to point-to-point connections, digital snakes or AVoIP protocols.
  • know how to connect devices to a single network switch and get audio sent around a network using Dante Controller

Dante Certification, Second Edition Level 2
1PM – 3:30PM
Course Level: Intermediate

After completing Dante Certification Level 2 (2nd Edition), students can confidently design, set up, operate, and troubleshoot Dante systems that span multiple network switches. A combination of live and pre-recorded demonstrations (due to required scale or elapsed time) will bring these features to life.

Upon completion, attendees will:

  • be able to design, set up, operate, and troubleshoot a Dante audio/video system that spans multiple network switches.
  • attain increased confidence in networking and the underlying principles to build truly robust, reliable systems.
  • gain an understanding of networking that should foster informed conversations with IT departments.

Day 2 (January 23nd and 24th)

Dante Introduction/Bootcamp – Get Savvy in Minutes!

9AM – 10:30AM
Course Level: Beginner

90 minute class – 20-30 min instruction, 60 min of hands- on experiments
Dante is the de-facto standard for AVoIP (Audio-Video-over-IP networks) in the professional space. Instead of connecting multi-core cables of analog, AES3 links or even MADI, Dante uses the flexibility of an Ethernet network to link devices so you can connect everything together however you like.

In this session, you will learn the basics of using Dante, and have the opportunity for hands-on experiments. You’ll learn some simple, practical guidelines in connecting and working with Dante.

If you have never worked with AVoIP before, this will set you on solid grounding to begin Dante Certification program, if you choose. The Dante Certification Program takes the practical skills you learn in this class and begins to show you why these things work.

Dante Platform Overview
11AM – 12PM
Course Level: Beginner

This course is for those that are new to Dante and AVoIP. We will go over all the different aspects of the Dante platform. From software, to audio, to video, and to managing a dante platform. This class is perfect for those who have no Dante experience to those that have been using Dante for years and want to know what is new.

Introduction to Managed Switch Tutorial
1PM – 2:30PM
Course Level: Intermediate

Requirements: This class is entirely hands-on, and you must bring your PC or Apple Computer with an RJ45 network port. (No Chromes books or Tablets).

Prerequisite – Dante Certification Level 2, Second Edition

This session offers a hands-on experience, with each table having its own Cisco CBS-350 switch to configure. Using the web interface, each student will establish administrative access, turn off EEE and optimize traffic using QoS and IGMP Snooping. For high-bandwidth links, a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) will be established. As time permits, we may also tackle VLANs and trunk lines.

This hands-on experience is for those who have never used a managed switch and would like a brief introduction. This is ideal for AV technicians who are taking on more responsibility with network management or whose Dante networks are growing to the point that it may be wise to engage some managed switch features.

Designing with AVoIP
3PM – 4PM
Course Level: Beginner

The future of AV design lies in leveraging IP Networks to create scalable, robust and secure systems . The advantages and functionality it offers designers, integrators and end users is unparalleled. In this webinar we dive into the world of AVoIP starting with how analog signals get digitized, encoded and transported across the network. We then learn about the technical aspects of the Dante platform and how we can build a Managed Dante Platform – From Dante Controller to Dante Domain Manager and beyond.
